Space One II
A collective exhibition about space travels and the infinite.
The second edition of the Space One – International Exhibition-Competition of Contemporary Art, in collaboration with the School of Aerospace Engineering of the Sapienza University of Rome and with the patronage of the III Municipality of the Municipality of Rome.
Given the theme of space, travel, micro/macrocosm, I presented two interlinked collage and mixed media triptychs The Day Shall Come and The Next Day and my cyborg doll Sophi@, a small, post-gender, post-biological, hyper-connected deity coming from the future.
The Day Shall Come reinterprets the biblical tale of Noah’s Ark in which it is the aliens who take the animals away to be reproduced/crossed elsewhere – without us.
The Next Day tells of imaginary distant worlds where the animals taken away in the previous triptych now regenerate in chimerical flora-mechanical forms under alien golden rhombuses suspended in the sky.
Both triptychs were realised with the ‘collaboration’ of the artificial intelligence algorithms DALL-E 2 and Midjourney.
