L’Appuntamento (The Rendezvous)

A vertical Mediterranean elegy on love, memory, and the words that remain unsent.

L’Appuntamento (The Rendezvous)  is a self-produced vertical short film, conceived in 9:16 and shot on an iPhone 16 Pro in Cinematic mode. Blending fiction and documentary, the film follows a woman who records an audio-letter addressed to a former lover: a lyrical farewell to a relationship that has ended but remains emotionally suspended.

Under the effect of a psychotropic plant, fragments of memory resurface as images, sounds, traces, and discontinuous visions. Dressed in red like a contemporary Gradiva, the protagonist crosses a Mediterranean landscape — from Marettimo to Gibellina, through Ludovico Quaroni’s Mother Church and Alberto Burri’s Cretto — turning the territory into a mirror of an inner journey through loss, desire, and possible transformation.

Born from an essential and handcrafted production process, the film reclaims the vertical format as an intimate, lyrical, and contemplative cinematic space, transforming the everyday language of reels into a quiet ritual of farewell and rebirth.
