Will Beauty Save The World?
A 3D cardboard print of the Venus e Milo becomes a screen for the good and evil of the world
Will Beauty Save The World? is 3D cardboard print of the Venus e Milo (created by NextMaterials LTD from Milan) standing as a totem awaiting for the visitor. The statue is covered with medical bands like it was wounded. The intent is to elaborate on the idea behind the famous statement by Prince Myskin in Dostoevsky’s The idiot: « Beauty will save the world ». On the body of the goddess, and on the back wall, a video edit will shows the good and evil of the world – redeemed by her silent epiphany.
The installation was presented during my fist solo exhibition Where is my sacred? at Fondazione Cerere in Rome (2019).
